The Hidden Cause of Your Anxiety: Lessons from a Peruvian Shaman
The Silent Struggle of Anxiety
It creeps into your thoughts, tightens its grip on your chest, and whispers fears you can’t escape. It keeps you up at night, convincing you that something is wrong—but never telling you what. You’ve tried therapy, meditation, maybe even medication, yet the unease lingers.
What if I told you the root cause of your anxiety lies far beyond your mind? What if it’s an echo of something much deeper—something sacred within you that’s been lost?
As a Peruvian shaman, I’ve helped countless people confront this invisible battle. And I’ve discovered that anxiety often stems from a phenomenon ancient wisdom calls soul loss.
What Is Soul Loss?
In the shamanic tradition, your soul is more than your identity—it’s your essence, your life force, the spark that connects you to the universe. But life, with all its wounds and challenges, doesn’t always treat the soul gently. Trauma, heartbreak, betrayal, and even the subtle pain of being unseen or unheard can fracture parts of your soul, causing them to become lost.
This isn’t just metaphorical. Soul loss is an energetic phenomenon, and it leaves behind an unmistakable void. That void often shows up as anxiety—gnawing, restless energy searching for the missing pieces of your essence.
How Anxiety Signals Soul Loss
Soul loss doesn’t announce itself clearly. Instead, it whispers through symptoms you may already know too well:
A constant sense of unease or dread, even when life feels “fine.”
Feeling disconnected from joy, purpose, or your loved ones.
A relentless, inner battle between who you are and who you think you should be.
These feelings aren’t just “normal” byproducts of modern life—they’re the soul’s call for healing.
The Shamanic Path to Healing Anxiety
Shamanism approaches anxiety differently than conventional methods. Instead of managing the symptoms, it seeks to mend the soul. This begins by addressing the underlying energy and restoring wholeness. Here’s how you can start:
1. Grounding in Pachamama’s Embrace
Anxiety lifts you out of your body, trapping you in spiraling thoughts. Grounding reconnects you to the stability of Pachamama—Mother Earth.
Practice: Find a quiet place outdoors. Remove your shoes and place your bare feet on the ground. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. Imagine your fear and tension flowing down into the earth, replaced by her calm, steady energy.
2. Transforming Fear Through Fire
In shamanism, fire is a sacred tool of transformation. It burns away old energy and creates space for something new.
Practice: Write down the thoughts, fears, or emotions that weigh you down. Light a candle and, with intention, burn the paper, saying, “I release this energy to the fire, to be transformed into light.”
3. Calling Back Lost Soul Pieces
A simple yet powerful practice to begin mending the soul is to call your lost pieces back home.
Practice: Place your hands over your heart, close your eyes, and repeat:
“To the parts of me lost through fear, pain, or trauma—I call you back. I welcome you home with love, light, and wholeness.”
These practices are more than rituals—they’re an invitation for your soul to return to its rightful place.
The Gift Within Anxiety
What if anxiety wasn’t a curse but a gift? A signal from your soul urging you to heal, to release, and to reconnect with your power. The shamanic path offers a way forward—not by masking anxiety, but by transforming it.
Your journey doesn’t end with anxiety—it begins there. The question is, will you answer the call?
