From Marine Veteran to Shaman: My Journey of Healing and Transformation
Opening Invocation:
“The path to healing often begins in darkness. It’s in those moments when the weight of life feels unbearable, that transformation whispers to us. For me, that whisper became a calling—a sacred journey that would lead me from pain to purpose.”
-The Modern Day Medicine Man-
Introduction:
For over 14 years, I walked the path of a Marine and Army veteran. It was a life defined by discipline, sacrifice, and service, yet it left me broken in ways I couldn’t articulate. Chronic pain consumed my body—my back, knees, and neck reminded me daily of the cost of my dedication. But the deeper wounds were invisible. Soul loss, trauma, and grief had hollowed me out, leaving me searching for meaning in a world that felt devoid of it.
This is the story of how I found my way back to myself through the sacred wisdom of Peruvian shamanism. It’s the story of how I transformed my pain into purpose and how you can too.
The Breaking Point
My journey began not with hope but with despair. The death of my grandfather, a man who was my anchor and guide, ignited a fire of anger and vengeance within me. Coupled with the hardships of my upbringing, I carried the weight of depression and a scarcity mentality. Addiction became my companion as I tried to numb the pain of living in a world that felt relentlessly unkind.
Years of service in the military left my body battered and my soul fragmented. By the time I found myself at the Wounded Warrior Battalion in Texas, I realized I wasn’t alone in my suffering. Everyone there, including myself, was grappling with something deeper than physical wounds—we were all experiencing soul loss.
Soul Loss: The Shamanic Perspective
In shamanism, soul loss occurs when pieces of our essence are fragmented due to trauma, grief, or prolonged suffering. This condition leaves us feeling disconnected, purposeless, and often plagued by addictions or patterns of self-sabotage.
I began to see my experiences not as failures but as signs of this deeper spiritual wound. The whispers of my ancestors grew louder, calling me to reclaim the parts of myself I had lost. I realized that healing wasn’t just about relieving physical pain—it was about retrieving my soul and stepping into my true essence.
Answering the Call of the Ancestors
The calling to become a shaman wasn’t something I chose—it chose me. Rooted in the traditions of my Peruvian ancestry, I was drawn to the teachings of the Medicine Wheel, the sacred ceremonies, and the transformative power of San Pedro medicine. These practices became my lifeline, guiding me out of the darkness and into a life of grace.
I learned that true healing comes from embracing every part of yourself—the pain, the joy, the fear, and the love. Through rituals, soul retrieval, and ceremonies to release ancestral blockages, I began to reclaim my power.
From Pain to Purpose
The most profound lesson I’ve learned is that our wounds can become our greatest teachers. Through my healing journey, I realized that my purpose wasn’t just to heal myself—it was to guide others on their path to transformation.
Today, I stand as a shaman, a guide, and a mentor. My mission is to help others reclaim their souls, heal their deepest wounds, and step into their highest destiny. Whether through one-on-one sessions, group ceremonies, or teachings from the Medicine Wheel, I am here to walk this sacred path with you.
